Very nice image there Derrick, is that blowing snow or was there a bit of fogging on the lens there?

I have to say I like that image and the tonal range in the image. Is this the image we talked about at the tradeshow? If so when I get home I will fire up PS and see what I can do.

Yes, this is the image. I believe that is foggy/haze that you see on the left. We had some patches of fog roll up the river that day. It's blue-ish compared to the rest of the scene I think because there's a hill off the the left that's casting a shadow.

Hey Derrick, For me it's hard to tell if i will end up liking a photo like this until i run it through photoshop. The basic shot is nice, but it needs some curves work, some contrast, some more texture, and there's a lot you can do still with that blue sky.

I'll have some time later on tonight and i'll have a crack at it and show you exactly what i mean...:)

Hope you don't mind my messing...

Adjusted:
Curves slightly,
Contrast,
Saturation
Unsharp mask.

Ime - Thanks for takin' a crack at it. My first reactions...I like your river, rocks, and the blue in your sky better. Though I like my mountain better. Although I do like the blue in the sky, it seems the increased saturation has added...grainiess to the clouds. I liked the smoother look of my clouds better. But I know...take from some where something's gotta give.

Thanks again! I look forward to everyone else's interpreations.

Of course mine was just a quickie fix and I didn't work in layers. If I were taking my time I would have created a second layer, brought out some sparkle and light on the water (Like I did), then used an edit mask to bring the original Mt. back.

I should have mentioned earlier...

I'm a complete PS newibe :-) I hope to learn to do all those things you just described :-)

well here is my attempt and a SS of what I did too. not sure about all the adjustment numbers but this should kinda give you an idea. I spent about 10-15 minutes thinking and trying to loose a bit of the haze with out loosing other areas.

I am by no means a master in photoshop, so I would like to see what everyone else can do. (Hopefully beter than me too I hope)

Nice job there Brandon, I like your water. I was torn between getting the water like yours and keeping the sky smooth..

What processes did you use Brandon?

Hey strayz I make a couple versions of the image and save each as a snapshot. then i just history brush in the best from each snapshot.

ok I so need to find instructions on how to do that history brush thing.. LOL.. I hear that is one of the fastest ways to make changes that are not destructive..

Wow Brandon! That water is awesome, and the light on the rocks. I'm really eager to get my hands in to PS now.
