my photo shop skills have been improving but im moving on to trying raw but know pretty much zip abuot it and i was wondering if anyone has mabey some tips or what not to do with raw ? so far ive only tryed it at 1600 iso and in the pouring rain so its realy grainy looking

I really like the effect you achieved on the first one, it is dramatic and interesting. When starting with RAW images (I use Lightroom) I really like buying inexpensive "presets" that you can preview and apply to the images quickly. I find these are great starting points and then you can fine tune to your taste. I buy my presets her: http://actions.nicholev.com/ and there are others on the web if you search.

Do you know the difference between the file type .jpg and RAW? The difference is the amount of information that is contained in the file. That is why RAW files are so much larger.

So, if you make a mistake or want to make adjustments to an image, you have much more to work with when you are working with RAW
