A concept I came up with yesterday... I had to use myself as a model since no one else was around ;)

Approx. 8' Caiman. This was taken from a duggout canoe at night on the Tambopota River Peruvian Amazon. Hand held Cannon EOS 10s — 70-210 Cannon EF lens. We were spotlighting along the bank. This was a really lucky shot since these guys duck as soon as the light hits them. I never saw anything but the glow of his eyes in the dark. Didn't know I got the shot until I had it developed.

Really Steve, don't dog breeders come up with enough grotesque manipulations without gene pool possibilities from photoshop?

I hope it's not too forward of me to comment on the photo's here but... I love artistic photography too much not to.

Matt: your first photo is thoughtfully suggestive of the timeless economic and social aspects that have persisted around the Banana industry at he same time that the grate, and those time worn bricks were cast — from the black and white to the brilliant color days of photography. I wonder if that was your intent?

Ufortunately the first photo is so out of context with the second entry that I have a hard time appreciating the latter.

Tim: your photo has, for me, the eerie supernatural look of a lost soul, caught by chance photograhpy in the endess loop of its last questionable dash. It would make a good cover for a book of ghost stories.

Wow—Heather! Much to the angst of my cerebellum trying to calm the shivers down my spine, your evocotive smile has the word titillating tickling the neurons of my sensory cortex... is that adult enough for an amateur critique?

Zo: It is hard to resist a good relection isn't it? It is even harder and rare that the top of the photo is udiscernable from the bottom. Beautiful color—sweet boat.

Thanks for the Comments... I wasn't the Economic situation of the banana industry, but I was just compelled by the old bricks of Pike street in B&W and the contrast that the over saturated banana created. You can take it as Disgust with all the detail and the nasty banana peel. You can take it as a time tranforming picture because of what you said with the b&w old bricks and the color rich banana peel. To be honest, I'm not sure what i was going for... just loved the image. About the second image... yeah it is drastically different then my first.. but i'm new to photography and am dabbling with all different subjects.. so you will find that with my pictures quite frequently until I find my style a little more. Thanks for the critique.. I am always open to suggestions.

Just worked on this photo last night and then my grandmother passed away very early this morning. This title seems more relevant all of the sudden. Here's my second entry.

Thank you. As callous as this may sound it really was a blessing. She had been suffering with kidney failure for a the last 2 years and her blood toxicity levels were through the roof. She was in a lot of pain and felt sick all the time. I really couldn't stand watching her suffer and she was so ready to go. If it had been me I think I would have tried to accidentally fall off a cliff or something. She really had a body made of iron or she wouldn't have been able last as long as she did.

Nice metro E. Did you intend the shallow depth of field?

What a brilliant green Selly! Is that natural? Interesting background, it looks like coal or obsidian. What comes to mind is Art Neuveau. I wonder what kind of mat and frame you would apply to the image?

Thank you, Roger. It's actually just the new growth on the shady side at the bottom of a tree. I increased saturation and contrast only enough to "unflatten" the picture.

I had not even thought about a mat yet, but maybe a medium-light gray.

I worked the Michael Franti and Spearhead show at Eugene's Cuthbert Amphitheater Sat. night and took my camera (if you like good music, check him/them out!). Here is one of my better shots for the night:

Nice color Barb! Excellent shots. Looks like you might need to blow the dust off your sensor.

Thanks, Shelley. I haven't shot at a concert in a looooooooong time and was really pleased with the images I got. It was raining off and on and I was reluctant to bring out the camera but just had to. Franti and Spearhead really is my favorite current band.

I like that one as well. I'm thinking of doing a 13x19 print of it and see how well it looks for the home.

Thanks Allan...I didn't even see what you saw 'til you pointed it out...and even then it took me awhile. At first I thought I oversaturated too much and you saw that but as I looked at both pics the same flaws are in both in the same location.

Robert, your first shot demands close inpection. The depth is captivating the way it shrinks into both the distant right and upper right corners. If I were to guess at the original subject, I would say window blinds — with patina added. very creative.

Hey Long, I was looking for the hole where the condome used to be. I guess they filled it up by now though. The only close landmark I could find was the line waiting to get into Swanny's Comedy Underground. Heh heh.
