Looks kinda soft. What equipment were you using?

try adding more light to the mix and/or bump your ISO to maintain a faster shutter speed 1/40th is too slow, causing you to get a soft focused image ... moving targets should have at least 1/125th to 1/250th, if your flash/camera will sync that fast ... without a great light source, macro is a tough one to master, unless you are shooting the needle in the haystack & it will never move LOL
I know, needing that low of an aparature for DOF, combined with everything else is tough, but good start to the macro world :)
